Does a QLAC annuity permit a surviving spouse to receive payments?

If the QLAC buyer elects a joint and survivor benefit, QLAC benefits will continue until both members of the couple die.

This so called "joint and survivor benefit" will be smaller than those paid to a single person, but will continue to be paid until both the policy owner and spouse are deceased.  As an important footnote, unlike other annuities, with a QLAC both members of the couple must be married.
